If I have a yahoo email address, can I also own another email address like gmail?

Yes, you can have more than one email address, with either same account or with different accounts.

Accounts include: Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook, among others

How can you tell that an email is a spam email?

To identify a spam email:

  1. Check out the email address that sent the email. In most cases, you cannot tag an identity to the username.
  2. Still on the email address that sent you the email, if the email is supposedly from a company or an organization, confirm that the domain reads that company or organization
  3. The content of the emails are themselves very suspicious. An example is if you have never participated in a lottery, an email from them, indicating that you won a lottery is an indication of a spam email.

How does someone hack into another person's account without their knowledge?

People can hack into your account if you have a weak password and there are also many tools available that hackers use to gain access to your passwords.

You are encouraged to always use strong passwords, for instance, by using a combination of numbers, letters & symbols and to often change your passwords. Do not use the same password for a long time.

How would one know his/her account has been hacked into?

You can know that your account has been hacked into through the following ways:

  1. Your friends/relatives might inform you that they are receiving suspicious emails from you email address or social media account.
  2. You can check in your sent emails, to confirm if there are any suspicious emails that were sent to your email contacts and not by you.

The registration for this zoom was by email. How can one tell that it was legit or spam?

You can confirm by:

  1. Checking how many people in your circles of friends know the person sharing the registration links to the zoom meetings
  2. You can do a background check on the person sharing the zoom link
  3. In most cases, the registration link is accompanied by the meeting agenda and flyers with pictures of the speakers. You can check that too.
